Where in Sri Lanka can my child take an AI class?

kidslab.lk classes are live online and open to children anywhere in Sri Lanka, including Colombo, Kandy, Galle, Matara, Negombo, Kurunegala, Jaffna. The academy's only office is at Hittatiya Central, Matara; there are no branches elsewhere and visiting is never required.

AI classes for kids in Sri Lanka

An AI class for kids teaches children how artificial intelligence actually works by having them build with it — training a model on their own examples, seeing where it fails, and wiring sensors and motors to act on what it decides. kidslab.lk teaches this live online across Sri Lanka to children aged 9–14, for LKR 5,000 over three months, with a free first session.

What an AI class for children actually covers

Two halves, taught together rather than in sequence. The AI half is training a model on examples, watching it get something confidently wrong, and working out why — which is how a child comes to understand that a model is trained rather than programmed, and that its training data decides what it can recognise. The engineering half is circuits, sensors, a microcontroller and motors, where a child learns that a sensor gives you a noisy number and deciding what to do with it is the actual work.

What it is not: mathematics. Neural network maths belongs at 15 and above, and leading with it is the most reliable way to lose a child who would otherwise have been good at this. A three-month class at this age buys understanding and capability, not a profession — be wary of anyone promising to make a ten-year-old an “AI developer”.

Where children can join from

Every kidslab.lk class is taught live online, so the programme is the same wherever a child joins from — same teachers, same twelve-week syllabus, same LKR 5,000. What differs between districts is what the online format is worth to a family there, and that is what these pages are about.

kidslab.lk has one office, at Hittatiya Central in Matara. There are no branches in any other district, and there is never a need to visit the office to enrol or attend.
